At Duke Street we have a vision of building a community of believers who are devoted to the making and maturing of fully committed followers of Jesus Christ, in the power of the Spirit, to the glory of God the Father.  To this end we seek to make prayer central to our church life because it expresses our complete dependence upon our Heavenly Father; it commits us to accept His will and to give glory and thanks to Him for His provision. All of our Bible Study and Fellowship Groups include prayer but the following are opportunities specifically for prayer:

Prayer Gatherings

These are held fortnightly from 7.30-8.30pm on Thursday evenings in the Fellowship Hall on alternate weeks to our Fellowship Groups, with tea & coffee available from 7.15pm. Our Prayer Gatherings are the focal point for corporate prayer, praise and news. They are for keeping in touch with church life and information and bringing our requests and thanksgiving to God.   We pray for our world, our nation and our Church, remembering the various ministries, activities and events that take place each week. We also pray for our Church family, particularly remembering our Mission Partners and those with specific needs.

Sunday Prayer

Sunday prayer meetings take place on Sunday mornings at 9:30am in Courtyard 1 and 6pm in Room 101.  These provide an opportunity to pray for our church services and all that takes place during them, particularly the teaching of God’s word and that unbelievers amongst us would be graciously converted by God’s powerful sovereign grace.

After Service Prayer

If you would like prayer about anything on your mind, someone is available to pray for/with you at the end of each of our services in a designated area.

Prayer Chain

The prayer chain is a group of people committed to specific prayer requests which they receive from the co-ordinator in complete confidence.  The chain mainly works by email but it’s possible by phone as well.
