The Bible’s Buried Secrets Re-examined.
In March 2011 BBC2 broadcast a series in which Exeter University academic Dr. Stavrakopoulou claimed that:
- King David never really existed
- The Israelites were not monotheists
- The Garden of Eden story was not about the first two human beings.
Her conclusion was that the Bible is unreliable. These papers provide a response to each of the three progamees in the series. Each paper looks at the methods and assumptions behind the evidence.

Dealing With Dawkins
Stuart Cashman and Steve Clark,
Albert Einstein once said that ‘Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.’ It is in this truly scientific spirit to that Stuart and I started studying the recent work of Richard Dawkins. We can’t promise that everything we say here is right, or that we have the monopoly on understanding this great writer, but we wanted to make an attempt to interact with his arguments.
Beyond the Worship Wars.
Adam Sparks. December 2005
““Worship” is the issue of the day. In the 2000-year history of the church, this issue has never been so contentious. This paper considers why this is so, and reviews what can perhaps be done to alleviate the problem. It argues that congregations adopting a biblical approach to the subject, with wisdom and sensitivity, will find a significant degree of unity and purpose that will overcome the often diverse understandings of worship that exist within a congregation, and the conflict and fragmentation that so often results”.
The Sovereignty of God.
Rev Dr Liam Goligher.
“None of us will ever rise any higher than our ideas about God! To lose our sense of God’s
high and awesome character will always lead to a loss of our highest ideals, noblest
values and deepest humanity”.
