Seniors on Sunday
Our Seniors and Retired congregation members are a valued and respected part of the Duke Street family – and actively engaged in all areas of our church life, from helping in the Crèche, teaching children in the Sunday School, meeting and greeting visitors, and acting as role models to younger followers of Jesus.
On Tuesday afternoons, many of our seniors meet at Tuesday Fellowship – for friendship, a Bible talk, some singing and a cuppa! Each alternate Wednesday morning, many of our seniors join the Ladies Bible Study – and there’s always a comfy chair and a nice cup of coffee at our Leaf & Bean Café – open each weekday from 10.00am to 12.30pm.
On the third Tuesday of each month we host a Seniors’ lunch in the Fellowship Hall, which is open to all for entertainment, good food and a short Thought for the Day.
Our CAMEO group organises a schedule of different social activities for our seniors, including trips to different museums and attractions in the London area, and after-church get-togethers.
Caring for our Seniors
Our Care Team oversee the visiting of those in our church family who, on their own, are unable to get out and about. Our Summer Garden Party brings together those of retirement age for a fun and relaxed social – and each year the Church Staff treat our seniors to a special Seniors’ Christmas Lunch.
