Dear Friends,

Welcome to this week’s eNews.

You can view or download the notice sheet here: [wpdm_package id=’400′]

This Sunday morning is the first Sunday of Advent, and John is starting a short series in Isaiah and Micah, with Isaiah 7:1-17 and 8:2-10, “Is God with us or Not”? I am glad to say that Alan feels fit enough to preach Sunday evening and will preach from Isaiah 40:1-11, “The God of all Comfort.” Please pray for John and Alan that they may know the Lord’s strength, and that the Word might be powerful, living, and “not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God…” 1 Thessalonians 2:13. As usual you can find a preview of all the songs we expect to sing here.

You may have noticed that Duke Street has a new logo! We hope you like it. It will start to appear on our printed and electronic communications straightaway – including this email!

We have sold almost 50 tickets for the Ladies Stir Up a Pud! event next Saturday 3-Dec at 7.30pm. If you are thinking of attending but have not yet bought a ticket, you can book tickets online here.

If you are of retirement age, we would love to invite you to this year’s Senior’s Christmas lunch. It’s a three-course Turkey dinner with all the trimmings, carol singing and a brief word from John Samuel. The event is Tuesday 20th December at 12.30pm in the Fellowship Hall. This year we really want to encourage you to invite your not-yet Christian friends, and pray that the Lord would use the occasion to open their hearts to believe the Good News! You can book here, or ask the Church Office to sign up for you!

Our online Christmas Fund is now open, providing an opportunity to channel and manage people’s generosity more efficiently. Each year we spend over £4,000 on publicity, mince pies and refreshments, Carols by Candlelight, Seniors Lunch, as well as other special events such as the Manna House Christmas Party and Carols in the Café. You can donate to the fund here.

Also, if you’d like to make a donation to the Christmas Fund in lieu of the cost of sending Christmas Cards to your friends at Duke Street, please email the Church Office by 7th December with a simple dedication message and we’ll include your message in the 11th December Notice Sheet. This year we will also repeat the opportunity to purchase one of the Church poinsettias in lieu of a small donation to the Christmas Fund.

Please be aware that the Rock Solid Leader’s meeting scheduled for this Monday evening has been postponed (even though it is still included in the printed version of the Notice Sheet!).

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Jonathon Adams
